Christopher Dobbins
Christopher Dobbins, 37, is a graduate of Oakland Public Schools. He attended Carl B. Munck Elementary School (’84), Montera Jr. High School (’87), and Skyline High School (’90).  Chris, as a pupil, was involved in numerous school activities including music, sports, and student government.  He served as Senior Class President and Student Representative to the Oakland School Board in 1990.

Dobbins holds a B.A. in Urban Planning from U.C. Berkeley, a Single-Subject teaching credential in Social Studies from California State University, Hayward, a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from California State University, Eastbay, and a  JD and  a Masters of Business Administration from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.  He is admitted to practice law in the State of California and is currently the Development Director at the New Leaf Center in Lafayette, CA.

Dobbins is a third-generation Oakland teacher.  His grandfather, Harold Dobbins taught at Castlemont High School during the Great Depression. His mother Rolly Dobbins completed 35 years of teaching, her last 29 years in Oakland.  Dobbins taught for over seven years in District schools, primarily at King Estates, Havenscourt, Elmhurst, and Bret Harte Middle Schools and other sites.

Dobbins became involved in with working with students through the P.E.T.E. Mentoring Program in 1992 and the Stiles Hall Big Brother/Big Sister Program in Berkeley in 1994.  Dobbins coached girls’ basketball and boys’ soccer at King Estates and Havenscourt Middle Schools.  In 1999, he formed the Oakland Middle School Soccer League that had over ten teams participate.  In 2001, he founded The Green Stampede, a non-profit organization that works with middle school students and is co-sponsored by the Oakland A’s.

Dobbins, having served as Parish Council President, remains an active member of St. Paschal Baylon Parish, Oakland.  He is also an active member of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity, earned the Eagle Scout award from Troop 305 in Oakland, and is an avid Oakland sports fan. Director Dobbins was appointed Chair, Facilities Committee, by President Gallo on May 7, 2009.

Dobbins became a member of the Board on January 8, 2007. Director Dobbins is the immediate past Vice President of the Board for the 2010 term.
