Perfect Score 2012
Our Mission is to stop the epidemic failure of African American Male (AAM) students in the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).  We will create the systems, structures, and spaces that guarantee success for all AAM students in OUSD.  By using data, we will identify entry points into schools and systems to increase equity, improve cultural competency, and implement practices that support AAM students.  We believe all AAM students are extraordinary and deserve a school system that meets their unique and dynamic needs.

Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) boldly created the Office of African American Male Achievement (AAMA) in Fall 2010 to make explicit and systemic attempts to improve the fortunes of African American males who have been historically underserved academically and consequently get absorbed in the school-prison pipeline at much higher rates then their school counterparts.

OUSD and AAMA work towards 100% of students in the district to become college & career ready!
